What is shiatsu?

Shiatsu ("finger pressure") is based on traditional Japanese massage therapy. Shiatsu works with the body's energy flow, known as Ki or Qi (pronounced chee).

How does it work?

It involves applying pressure to specific points on the body, moving from one point to another in a rhythmic sequence. It is performed without oils through light, comfortable clothing.

Benefits of receiving a shiatsu massage

  • Work the tension and spasms out of the muscles, thus eliminating muscle aches by rubbing and pulling at the skin and muscles, and by pressing on acupressure points that release tension.
